Well, we are chest deep in preparations. Up to this point, we’ve been quite busy list making, document printing/checking/triple checking. The packing and shopping for Humanitarian Aid and getting baby stuff :o) comes next. We are excited – very excited… this is pretty surreal still. Worried about how long we’ll be away from Rachael. While we’re away, she’ll get to open a small gift-a-day (things I’ve collected over the last several months) --- all will be stored in a Treasure box from Mommy and Daddy--- and she can remove one chain link from the chain that counts the days we’re away. Also, we created a photobook of pictures from the last 6 months of fun activities we 3 did together. We hope this helps with the separation. We know she’ll have a great time with her 4 grandparents and will be forming her own memories with them.
While Asher and our home will be secure with our house/dog sitter, we will leave Friday, December 5th, fly from Lexington to JFK via Cinci., then overnight from JFK to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) . We’ll stay overnight in Dubai, fly out the next morning, and arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday (7th). We hope to be united with our Jonah Zelalem that afternoon.
If all goes as planned, we’ll be home again late on the 14th. Whew!
I think cooking and freezing is in order, but those planning neurons are being used for other purposes….
